To begin work a written “work-order” with an agreed upon schedule and hourly rate needs submitted and accepted by Star Technologies. This can be as simple as an email.
Star Technologies may incorporate into your project various pre-existing development tools, routines, sub-routines, programs, data, and materials ( otherwise referred to as “code” ). As a client of Star Technologies ( upon final payment ) you are given a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to use the code Star Technologies develops for you as you see fit in your project. This license is non-transferable and is not sub-licensable. All code written by Star Technologies is by default the copyright of Star Technologies unless otherwise agreed upon in a signed intellectual property transfer agreement.
Star Technologies may use previously developed libraries in your project. This library code will remain the copyright of Star Technologies and be exempt from any intellectual property transfer agreement and will also be licensed to you as per the previous license clause.
The term “code” includes program source code and all other files generated during development such as PCB artwork, CAD design and schematics.
This license does not transfer any license or ownership of the software or tools needed to build your project. If you wish to build or modify the project files yourself these tools may be an additional cost.
Project File Backup
Star Technologies is not responsible for long term curation of your project. Star Technologies will maintain a project backup (files and documents generated by Star Technologies related to your project) no longer than 30 days after the last Invoiced date strictly as a convenience. Please request and maintain your own copy of these project files for safe keeping. Project files do not include any tools needed to build the project. If you wish to build or modify the project files yourself these tools may be an additional cost.
Star Technologies has spent years refining our supplier relationship and prototype workflow ( including overhead ) and considers this part of our “cost of doing business” and therefore proprietary information. As a result we generally don’t itemize parts on invoices or send you copies of receipts for parts ordered when building prototypes. There will be a general “Parts” line item on your invoice for all parts and consumables.

Our normal operating hours are 9 AM to 5 PM Monday – Friday, MST, except for the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day,
- Memorial Day,
- Independence Day (4th of July),
- Labor Day,
- Thanksgiving Day,
- Christmas Day
When a holiday falls on a weekend, the holiday is observed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday).
In the event that you need support for your project during “off-hours” Star Technologies offers after-hours on-call support. On-call support must be planned for in advance ( two business days ), the daily fee is $250.00 per day regardless if support is used. The hourly rate is time and a half for work performed.
If you need after-hours support and it has NOT been planned for in advance the daily fee is $500.00 and the hourly rate is double time for the work performed.
